CenturyLink Cloud Fax supports Opportunistic TLS Encryption on the STANDARD Cloud Fax subscriptions ONLY IF the user’s email server has Opportunistic TLS Encryption enabled.
- Inbound Faxes > All inbound faxes will be sent from CenturyLink’s Cloud Fax Email Server as encrypted email to the user’s email server IF Opportunistic TLS Encryption is enabled on the user’s email server. If TLS Encryption is not enabled, the email will be sent unencrypted.
- Outbound Faxes > If Opportunistic TLS Encryption is NOT enabled on the user’s email server, the email bound from the user’s email server to CenturyLink’s Cloud Fax Email Server will not be transmitted encrypted. If Opportunistic TLS Encryption is enabled, the user’s emails will be encrypted to the CenturyLink Cloud Fax Email Server before being translated to a secure fax transmission and sent to the 10 digit fax destination.
Note: To guarantee that outgoing and incoming mail servers negotiate a TLS connection it would be preferable for the mail server to be set to forced TLS. Otherwise, there is a chance that they may negotiate an non-TLS connection.
